About Hotel Arcata
The Hotel Arcata, proudly owned by Big Lagoon Rancheria Native American Tribe and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, charms guests with its turn-of-the-century high ceilings, claw-foot tubs, and outstanding downtown location. Established in 1915 as a sportsman’s retreat, our dog-friendly hotel is still your premier gateway to all the exciting activities that the North Coast has to offer.
Our rooms range from tastefully decorated standard rooms, to mini-suites,
and spacious full-sized suites overlooking the unique downtown plaza. Also, on site, are Tomo Japanese
Restaurant, Humboldt Outfitters gift shop, and Panaché hair salon. Free passes are available to our
premier health club in nearby McKinleyville, featuring the newest equipment and 25 yards, six lane
swimming pool. The Hotel Arcata houses a large collection of historic photos displaying the rich and beautiful heritage of local Native communities. Whether your interest is hiking our endless trails, biking, kayaking, fishing, bird watching in the local
marshes, golfing, beach combing our wild beaches, or simply relaxing in the redwoods reading a good
book, Arcata and nearby County, State and Federal parks have it all!
Our friendly staff will be delighted
to let you know about local goings-on, including the Saturday Farmer’s Market just outside our front
door, concerts at Humboldt State University, the world-renowned Oyster Festival, hilarious Kinetic
Sculpture Race, and Humboldt Bay Marathon, among others.
Arcata has definitely retained its small town feel, and offers a myriad of dining and shopping
opportunities all within a few blocks of the Hotel, including boutique gift shops, new and used books,
vintage clothes, art & beading supplies, toys, and an artist’s collaborative.
Whatever your desire, the Hotel Arcata is your place to begin.
